Transparency about practices. Good producers are happy to explain how they raise their goats, what the animals are fed, and how they handle and store the milk. Vague or evasive answers are a red flag.

Certification for organic claims. If a farm advertises its milk or feed as organic, look for certification from a recognised body such as ACO (Australian Certified Organic) or NASAA. "Spray-free" and "chemical-free" are unregulated terms, so ask what they actually mean in practice on that farm.

Reviews and reputation. Ratings and reviews can help, but weigh them against the number of reviews. A 5-star rating from a single review tells you less than a slightly lower rating from twenty.
